Bio

Xana Tang made her screen debut at the tender age of 16 playing the role of Spit in the award-winning feature film Matariki. Soon after, she was a series regular on Hounds, which won Best Television Comedy at the 2012 New Zealand Film and Television Awards. 

 Other notable screen roles since include - Feature films The Justice of Bunny King and in 2020 Xana played the role of Xiu, Mulan’s Sister in the highly anticipated live action Disney film, Mulan, directed by award-winning New Zealand director, Niki Caro. TV series include Filthy Rich, Fresh Eggs, The Letdown (AUS), Dead Lucky (AUS), Sweet Tooth (US) & Power Rangers (US).

 In 2023, she will be on our screens again in the original bilingual true crime drama series Far North alongside Temuera Morrison and Robyn Malcom, and Alice Englert’s (IndieWires 2023 Female Filmmakers to watch) directorial debut, a dark comedy feature Bad Behaviour led by Ben Whishaw & Jennifer Conolly.

 Xana is also an accomplished theatre actor working on Auckland Theatre Company’s Single Asian Female, playing Zoe, which was the first Asian led production. Xana also voices Lea in Netflix’s The Sea Beast film and animation series Tales of Nai Nai (Maggie) and Yuki 7 (Yuki).  Xana speaks fluent Cantonese & conversational Mandarin.
