Bio

Duane is one of our most successful exports when it comes to talent. His screen career began at the age of 3 on New Zealand’s #1 prime time drama series Shortland Street where he soon become a fan favourite. His talents were very quickly picked up and he was snapped up for James Cameron’s Avatar 2,3 & 4. Since, Duane has been booking lead roles both here and overseas including productions such as Duckrockers, Power Rangers, Sweet Tooth to name a few.

Outside of acting, Duane has been acknowledged for his work via numerous awards, appearances, and testimonials from productions houses both here and abroad. New Zealand media have covered Duane’s journey from prime-time local screen to his international success. These include exclusive interviews on our national news outlets One News & Radio New Zealand among other large reaching publications. Duane also has a large social/digital presence and follower base that he has gained from his multiple high-profile roles.


Duane has been acting since he was three years old, he is best known in New Zealand for his role on the drama series Shortland Street where he was a fan-favourite four years running as Michael Hampton Rees. 

After leaving Shortland Street he spent 9 months living & working in the US playing Rotxo in the James Cameron directed feature films Avatar 2,3 & 4, releasing 2022, 2024 & 2026 respectively. He acquired new skills including working underwater, Green Screen & Stunts and receiving positive feedback from Director & Crew for his ‘can do Kiwi Kid’ attitude. 

Other screen highlights include roles in the award-winning short film Ebony Society, feature films Fantail, Billy and The Legend of Baron To’a.  Series include Power Rangers: Ninja Steel, The New Legends of Monkey, Duckrockers and the apocalyptic series Sweet Tooth.

Duane speaks fluent Te Reo and has a long history of competing in Kapa Haka competitions and performing on stage.
